Kwality Veg Resturant - Montieth Road, Egmore

kwality

Montieth Road, Egmore (Next to Ambassador Pallava)

Located two buildings away from Amabassdor Pallava hotel on the same side. If you go down the memory lane to your 80s you will remember this logo and name for a very yummy ice cream. This was later taken over by Walls and the Indian company still runs their dairy unit manufacturing milk-based products

Ambiance: The resto has been refurbished and is done up artfully. A small door next to the bakery opens up a hidden treasure on the montieth road for vegetarians. A 64-seater ideal for kitty parties, large group luncheons, dinners etc. Comfortable seating, glass paintings, modern arts, murals etc are found decorating the place

Menu: This is a multi-cuisine pure veg restaurant with a lot of Punjabi dhaba type dishes, Chinese and Continental
Food: The Chinese are just above par and continental is nowhere close. But if you like to try good North-Indian and some asli Punjabi-dhaba food. This is you go to place in this part of town.
The dishes were garnished with veggies which was pleasing to the eye

Soups: Manchow, cream of mushroom and corn and potato soup. Manchow was decent but the other two were not up to the mark.

Men at work! Gudduji busy with his one plus one and pictures

Starters:  (LtoR) Chilly cauliflower, Corn pepper and salt, tandoori paneer, dragon veg spring rolls, chinese salad, achar ki paneer, dahi kebab - very soft, melt-in-the-mouth tangy sweet kebab (the best dish of the day), and tandoori aalo. Chinese needs a lot of improvement in taste

Main course: (LtoR) Veg salad, Karele ki sabzi (generally not served in restaurants but if you are karela person, you will love this preparation), naan, veg milan, dal makhani, methi paneer, punjabi chole (according the gudduji, the taste was like real delhi/dhaba stuff), dal bhukara, veg-dum biryani, and boondhi raitha.
Rotis - Rumali, naan, garlic cheese naan and pudhina paratha. Rumali could have been better, naan and pudhina paratha were good

Desserts: Lassi (could have been thicker n creamier), tutti-fruti falooda large, various desserts from the bakery , gazar ka halwa (very good with roasted cashews in ghee), mini tooti-frooti and vanilla with dark chocolate ice cream

Service: Service staff were attentive, constantly watching and clearing the table of the left-overs and empty bowls. Overly caring as they served more than required portions ending up in wastage. There was too much food to be eaten at one go

Verdict: The dahi kebab, paneer and karela sabzi were the stand out dishes for me and the taste will linger long on your tongue and mind. Feedback was given on how to improve the quality of certain dishes, areas for improvement in service, overall structuring and planning, billing etc. They are still not officially open and hope our suggestions help them fix key issues before opening officially

Kwality was a Pun Ja(haan)bi  time with some good food and good company!
